A hearty hello to all of our readers near and far!

Today, as we round the corner into October, the real countdown till peak autumn foliage begins.

There's a chill in the air, to be sure. Morning temperatures are dipping below the 10 degrees Celsius mark with daytime highs barely hitting the late teens. That means you'll want to pack a fleece or windbreaker along with all the other standard hiking gear. As always, remember to bring a hat to keep off harmful UV rays and some form of rain resistant shell.

Since we haven't much to report this week, we've instead decided to share some images from the Five Sense Kamikochi blog. Our old friends have been beavering away to bring you fresh updates liberally seasoned with beautiful photographs. Enjoy!

Here we see a bird called Shijuukara (シジュウカラ) in Japanese or "Japanese tit" in English. Yeah, be careful when Googling that...
